Rubber Screened Cables

AKY Cable supplies rubber screened cables with tinned copper (TC) braiding screen for EMI protection. Available in 1kV and 3.3kV with 90°C and 110°C options. Designed for VSD connections, EMI-sensitive environments and heavy industrial applications requiring flexibility plus screening. Widely used in Australian mining, industrial and marine installations.

Specifications:

  • Conductor: Class 5 tinned copper | Insulation: EPR (90°C) or Silicone (110°C)
  • Screen: TC braiding — 85%+ coverage | Sheath: CR (Neoprene) or CPE
  • Voltage: 0.6/1kV or 1.9/3.3kV | Temp: –25°C to +90°C / –30°C to +110°C
  • Standards: IEC 60245, VDE 0250, AS/NZS 5000.2

Why Screened Rubber Cable?
VSDs generate high-frequency switching noise that interferes with nearby instrumentation. The TC braid contains EMI, reduces motor bearing stress and helps meet AS/NZS CISPR 11 EMC requirements. Rubber sheath outlasts PVC in harsh environments.

AU/NZ Applications:

  • VSD motor connections for conveyors, pumps, crushers, mills in mining & industrial plants
  • Mining equipment — longwall systems, draglines, shovels, drills where EMI could affect control systems
  • EMI-sensitive instrumentation & control circuits
  • Industrial automation & robotics
  • Marine & offshore — vessels requiring EMI protection plus weather/oil resistance
  • Solar tracker drives & wind turbine pitch control
